Contextualize this!

Have fun with this site http://phras.in/. You can do the same with google but not as much fun and not as useful for younger / lower levels. Try a search for “I have got two brothers” and “I have two brothers”. Which is most common? And then look at the contexts they are produced in: which is more typical of a foreign student? Try comparing to “I’ve got two brothers”.

A very simple introduction to the power of Corpus linguistics and the tools every language student has on hand to help them make more informed decisions.
