Unplug those kids, or leave them plugged in?

This is not really about Dogme but it could be! Saw a news item on BBC World last week interviewing some teenagers who were asked to do an experiment: live unplugged, without mobile phones, TV, radio, text, email, internet for 24 hours. Could you do it? They could, but just about. That is the world our teenage students live in so there really is that question of whether we need to take that into account in our classes, or not?  Nicky Hockly (blog link on right) has written recently about using mobile devices in classrooms and I think that they would provide in many cases a nice balance to often teacher fronted IWB classes.  Student led material? Would that be Dogme 2.0? Nothing wrong with being completely unplugged now and again either as the video and article below explain.
